The Foundation has been named after Iswar Chandra Vidyasagar who was the icon of Renaissance in the 19th Century of Indian sub continent . He was a great Indian educationist who worked to make the education available for all , and a social reformer with revolutionary contribution in the field of women empowerment .He fought against the institution of child marriage and strived to bring widow remarriage into practice . Vidyasagar’s progressive philosophy, revolutionary social work and the vision was ahead of time . The Foundation and Trustees will follow and implement the progressive philosophy of Iswar Chandra Vidyasagar and the spirit of the same will be abided by and carried forward . Being encouraged by the life philosophy of Pandit .Iswar Chandra Vidyasagar and inspired by his fearless and selfless struggle for the progressive society and the oppressed ,poor and under privilege people the Foundation is working to achieve social welfare ,educational, environmental ,cultural growth and to bring about a change in society.
